01 / About Kanahau

Rooted in the island’s living landscape.

Kanahau Utila Research and Conservation Facility is an established research facility on the north side of Utila, Honduras. We focus on terrestrial biodiversity and welcome volunteers and researchers from a range of disciplines and fields.

Our home is about two miles outside Utila’s only town, surrounded by tropical broadleaf forest, a few hundred feet from the Caribbean Sea and at the foot of Pumpkin Hill. We are a small, dedicated team of conservation biologists.

The facility offers full-board accommodation, including three meals a day, for individuals and small groups interested in gaining experience or carrying out independent or supervised research.
